Yaz Lancaster

Yaz Lancaster is an experimental artist whose practice is grounded in queer, DIY, and liberatory frameworks. Their work utilizes electroacoustic composition, sampling/collage, and improvisation. Cultivation of care and intimacy, post-genre collaboration are priorities of their artistic ethos. Yaz performs solo sets with violin/voice/electronics that comprise songs, improvisations, and composed music; and as “death ambient” project medium. (in collaboration with gg200bpm). Sophomore album AFTER (PTP, Nov 7) was created while in-residence at Pioneer Works in winter 2025.

Other recent projects include a large chamber work for International Contemporary Ensemble, "SATURATION" for four instruments and vocalizing dancers, and several new works presented at the 2025 Gaudeamus Festival. They are a member of NYC-based and communally-active PTP Vision artist collective; and the creator/curator of HEAVY HEARTS performance series celebrating the community and vulnerability in harsh/experimental sonics. Yaz lives in Harlem, NY with their little dog Nori.
