Artist-in-Residence Series at Rivington

Metropolis Ensemble’s Artist-in-Residence series invites select composers and performers from our collective to shape multi-event arcs—talks, workshops, open rehearsals, and performances—so ideas move swiftly from sketch to stage in our intimate gallery-loft. Each residency comes with a supported framework that lets artists lead, experiment, and connect directly with audiences.

A World of Imagination

To better serve our community, Metropolis founded Rivington—an event and incubator space on the Lower East Side—in collaboration with galleries Candice Madey and MARINARO. From 2017–2020, this light-filled room hosted 100+ concerts, readings, festivals, and artist-led series.

Steps from the New Museum, Rivington centers intimate music-making: immersive concerts, open rehearsals of new work, and interactive demonstrations that put listeners close to the creative process.

Rivington anchors our pipeline for rising artists. Within a low-barrier framework for audiences—pay-what-you-wish access—musicians and composers in a supported framework develop projects, build a body of work, and connect with listeners and the broader community between our larger productions.
