Lizzie Burns

In demand bassist Lizzie Burns is a chamber musician who performs in new music ensembles, continuo sections, rhythm sections, and chamber orchestras.  She is a member of Bang on a Can All-Stars, The Knights, International Contemporary Ensemble, A Far Cry, and Simone Dinnerstein’s ensemble Baroklyn.  A dedicated educator, Burns is on faculty at Mannes Conservatory at The New School and Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. She has performed with The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and at chamber music festivals across the country including Spoleto Festival USA, Tippet Rise Arts Center, Bay Chamber, and Bravo! Vail.  Inspired by collaborations with composers she has premiered works by George Lewis, Julia Wolfe, Caroline Shaw, Pauline Oliveros, Andy Akihio, Jörg Widmann, David Lang, Henry Thredgill, Matthew Aucoin, and many others.  As a historical bassist she performs with Tafelmusik, ACRONYM, Handel + Haydn Society, and Trinity Baroque Orchestra.  She has recorded with soloists Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Gil Shaham, Pekka Kuusisto, and Rachel Podger, and performed with popular artists Jon Batiste, Chris Thile, Jacob Collier, Diplo, Sheryl Crow, Phoebe Bridgers, Aoife O’Donovan and St. Vincent.  Burns can be heard on Sony Masterworks, Deutsche Grammophon, Naxos, New Amsterdam, and Nonesuch record labels, as well as popular film and television soundtracks.
