Metropolis Ensemble presents a series of short new works for mixed ensemble composed by eight University of Buffalo PhD composition students. These works are uniquely inspired by the extraordinary acoustic environment of the abandoned grain silo at Marine Terminal A. One of the compositions will be selected by the producers of the PBS television series Songs About Buildings and Moods to be featured in an upcoming episode that includes footage of Silo City.
June in Buffalo is a prestigious festival and conference dedicated to contemporary composers, hosted annually at the University at Buffalo. Celebrating its 50th year, the series has become a cornerstone of modern music, providing an unparalleled platform for composers to refine their craft, collaborate with peers and showcase their work.
